Product Features

This app is a client program running on campus phones (Android terminal devices), serving as the runtime container for WeChat Mini Programs, providing students with simple and secure video calling services.

Two-Way Video Call

Students call parents from the device, and parents receive a WeChat call popup. Parents can also call back to the device via the Mini Program. Full HD two-way audio/video.

Family Whitelist

Each student can only call authorized parent WeChat accounts, blocking unknown callers. Parents must explicitly authorize the device on WeChat to accept calls.

Plug & Play

The device auto-registers and activates after powering on and connecting to the network. Students select a contact and dial with one tap — no phone number login needed.

WeChat Strong Reminder

Calls reach parents via WeChat's official call notification, the same experience as a WeChat voice call. Won't be buried in messages, ensuring high answer rates.

Auto Logout for Shared Devices

Automatically clears session state and returns to the standby screen after each call, protecting student privacy — ideal for shared-use scenarios like dormitories.

Device Status Management

Built-in network management and self-check. Supports WiFi / 4G connectivity with automatic reconnection on failure, ensuring long-term stable operation.

How It Works

Four steps from deployment to family video calls

1

Device Deployment

Install the phone in dorms or hallways. It auto-activates after power and network connection.

2

Parent Authorization

Parents scan a QR code in the WeChat Mini Program to bind their child and authorize call permissions.

3

Student Dials

Student selects a parent on the device screen and initiates a video call with one tap.

4

Parent Answers on WeChat

Parent receives a WeChat call notification and taps to answer — video face-to-face instantly.

Technical Architecture

This client (WMPF Client) is built on the official WeChat Mini Program Hardware Framework, serving as the launcher container and manager for Mini Programs on the device.

  • WeChat Mini Program Hardware Framework (WMPF) Uses the official WMPF runtime, enabling the phone to run Mini Programs without the WeChat app — with capabilities identical to the mobile client.
  • This Client (WMPF Client) Handles device registration and activation, Mini Program launch and lifecycle management, network monitoring, incoming call reception and ringtone alerts.
  • WeChat VoIP Call Plugin Audio/video calls are handled by the official WeChat VoIP plugin. Call UI, ringtones, and signaling are all provided by WeChat — secure and reliable.
  • Device Security Certification Each device has a unique serial number and signature. Device identity is embedded in a hardware security partition to prevent cloning and misuse.

Security & Compliance

For minor-user scenarios, we put security and privacy first.

Minimal Data Collection Students can use student IDs instead of names. No biometric data (e.g., face recognition) is collected — only the essential binding relationships for calls.
Guardian Consent Mechanism Call permissions must be actively authorized by parents on WeChat. Privacy agreements and guardian consent terms are signed during registration.
Whitelist-Only Outbound Calls The device can only call authorized parent WeChat accounts. No arbitrary number dialing — eliminating fraud risk at the source.
Compliant Call Log Retention Call logs are retained for at least six months per regulations, with full HTTPS/TLS encryption and periodic cleanup of expired data.
